Founder of Red Doors Studio, Gong Master and Catalyst for Emotional Wellbeing
After making a living for over 25 years as a management consultant in the field of human performance and effectiveness, Martha founded a studio to reverse the effects of stress through ancient practises that are relevant, efficient, non-pharmaceutical in nature and accessible to modern man. Her interest in alternative and complimentary practises started at an early age when she built a medicinal herb garden.  She has since explored a wide range of modalities from Vipassana to TM, from Iyengar to Ashtanga, Reiki to Sacred Geometry and dowsing to homeopathy.

The practise of yoga however has been a constant since 1989. In 1998 she was the Founding Chairman of the Yoga Society of Hong Kong and Founding Editor of Namaskar Magazine. Her last corporate role was VP Group Organisational Wellness at Lane Crawford Joyce Group where she conceptualised and built a holistic wellness platform for 5,400 staff in four companies in Greater China.  The tagline – Conscious Choices based on self-awareness drove the program which elicited optimum wellbeing in the five areas of wellness described by Gallup – physical, emotional, career, financial and social.  During this time, she discovered Kundalini Yoga and which changed her life shortly after a teacher training in New Mexico.

After one transformational gong bath, she now has a dedicated studio to the practise, playing and sharing of the deep healing vibrations of the gongs.  Here, she teaches gong, as well as playing all over Hong Kong for non-profits such as Maggies Cancer Support Centre, Nesbitt Centre and Cancerlink, spas and management teams including Mandaring Oriental, Fivelements, Ovolo and The Siam Hotel, public events such as IRIS, Wonderfruit, Clockenflap and new store openings such as Lululemon and CliffvonEdge. She has played on top of shopping malls, beaches, mountain tops and underground bars, open air parks and next to floatation tanks.  Essentially bringing peace of mind and peace of heart to all.

Martha’s other passion is walking meditation. Labyrinths are ancient circuitous paths that lead to a centre.  They serve as metaphors for our lives allowing us to process, reflect and resolve life’s challenges.  As the Asia Representative for the Labyrinth Society and only Certified Labyrinth Builder in Asia Martha has built, taught and shared labyrinths in HK, Thailand and for 34,000 scouts at the last World Jamboree in Japan.  Star Ferry HK and St. John’s Cathedrals feature her handiwork.  She’s build permanent labyrinths at schools in Thailand and HK and facilitates temporary and portable labyrinths for a variety of events and audiences.

Eventually she hopes her efforts will enable Hong Kong to be recognised as a world leader in reversing the negative effects of stress by looking to the past to heal the present.
